Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2022 Latour is stunning right out of the glass. Rich, seamless and exceptionally beautiful, the Latour soars, showing magnificent purity and intensity. Ripe red cherry/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint and spice are all seamlessly woven together. There’s plenty of Latour tannin, but it is also totally integrated into the wine’s fabric. All the elements are in the right place. I imagine the 2022, uncharacteristically for Latour, will drink well with only a short time in bottle, as its balance is so impeccable, even in the very early going.

Already shows very classy aromas of black berries, currants and black olives. Violets and other dried flowers. Full-bodied yet tight and polished with a reserved and muscular form, with finesse at the same time. New 1982? Pure merlot.

Aromas of sweet cherries, baked plums, licorice and cigar wrapper introduce the 2022 Latour à Pomerol, a medium to full-bodied, rich and creamy wine that's ripe and supple, with soft tannins that assert themselves on the finish.

All Merlot from a small eight hectares of gravelly, clay soils, the 2022 Château Latour A Pomerol offers up a vivid purple hue as well as beautiful aromatics of ripe black cherries, blackberries, chocolaty herbs, and loamy earth. It's medium to full-bodied, has plenty of concentration, building, ripe tannins, and a great finish.

The 2022 Latour à Pomerol wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, red berries, licorice and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a sweet core of fruit, polished tannins and a ripe but lively profile, this is a fine effort.

The 2022 Latour à Pomerol was picked 1-8 September, the earliest harvest amongst J-P Moueix's wines this year. Certainly, this is endowed with one of their richest and more fruit-driven aromatic profiles with precocious black cherries and raspberry coulis scents, more blue fruit emerging with aeration. I would not necessarily describe it as complex, however. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm, slightly chalky tannins. Plenty of freshness and structure locked into this nascent Pomerol with a linear and rather persistent finish. Good potential, though it needs several years in bottle.

Strong clove notes on the attack, this feels super charged without enough balancing acidity. It will soften I am sure, as this is a property with an excellent track record, and is one to retaste in bottle. Harvest dates of September 1 to 8 gives you a clue to just how ripe these grapes were getting.
